Summary
CTO who builds at both ends: taking products from nothing to production, and leading and scaling the organisations that follow. Over 14 years across fintech, marketplaces, retail technology and telecoms.
In practice that has meant everyone from engineering managers to data scientists: at Ksubaka across four countries, then four years as VP of Engineering at Vestiaire Collective across London, Paris and Berlin. Most recently at Alpa: a fintech platform from prototype to production across the UK, France and Spain with a three-engineer team, myself included, owning product, design, data and infrastructure along the way.
What I've taken from both ends: a small, evidence-disciplined, AI-native team can now do what once took a department, inside a large organisation as much as in a startup. The productivity shift is real; I've lived it, not read about it.
Experience
CTO (Chief Technology Officer) - Alpa - London, United Kingdom
August 2025 - Present
Founding-team CTO of a VC-backed fintech giving hospitality operators, from single sites to multi-location groups, real-time financial clarity: open banking, POS and invoice data unified into weekly P&L, cash flow and a financial-health score. I lead technology end to end, covering product, design, software engineering, DevOps and data.
- Platform & Delivery: Took the platform from prototype to production in the UK, France and Spain with a three-engineer team: ingestion (open banking, POS, invoice OCR), ML transaction classification with confidence tiering and human review, P&L and cash-flow engines, group-level consolidation with per-location drill-down, billing, RBAC and internationalisation.
- Product Velocity: Shipped the ALPA Score, a financial-health index for restaurants, from concept to press-partnered public launch in six weeks.
- User-Facing AI: Shipped AI beyond reporting: generated insights and a conversational assistant turning computed financials into plain-language explanations and actionable next steps for non-financially-literate operators.
- AI-Native Delivery: Engineered an agentic LLM delivery pipeline that concentrates human attention where judgement matters, shaping tickets, technical design and the contentious calls, and makes everything else structural: adversarial scoping, acceptance-criteria-driven TDD, parallel multi-lens reviews, live end-to-end validation and CI-gated merges. One command from ticket to merged PR.
- Infrastructure: Cut infrastructure costs and hardened reliability: ECS to EKS with GitOps, Datadog observability, security and audit architecture fit for financial data.
- Product & Evidence: Ran discovery and analytics end to end: instrumented funnels, dated hypothesis registers, adversarial review of our own analyses, direct work with operators and franchise groups.
